College Council
Day to day administration of the institution is carried out by the Principal who is assisted by the College council and various other committees appointed jointly by the Council and Principal. The college Council which is a statutory advisory body is constituted with the Principal, Heads of Departments and teachers elected from among the members of the teaching staff.
Tutorial System
In order to improve all-round performance of students and to provide personal attention, tutorial system has been introduced in the college. At the beginning of the academic year, students are divided into different batches and placed under the personal charge of a teacher, designated as Group Tutor. He/She will keep regular watch over the attendance, progress and conduct of the students under him/her and will give necessary guidance. Students shall forward all applications to the principal through the concerned tutor. The progress report of the students will be intimated to parents by the tutor. Parents are suggested to contact the concerned tutor and discuss the all-round performance of their students
in the college. The college tutorial system will be organized and guided by a Co ordinator nominated by the principal.
All classes have class tutors who are responsible for the conduct of regular tutorial meeting. The students are free to discuss their specific problems with the tutor in addition to the general problems faced by the class.
Mentoring System
Students is a class are grouped of 10 members, each group is under the guidance of a ‘Mentor’, normally a teacher from other departments. The mentor interacts with the group for hearing, analyzing and solving the academic and personal problems facing
the students, from time to time.
The College Union
The college union exists for co-ordinating the activities of the various college associations, to organize collegiate and inter collegiate debates, lectures by public men and to promote and strengthen unity among the students of the college. The college union and the allied associations will be constituted in the college according to the rules and regulations, laid down by the M.G.University Kottayam from time to time and as per the court order
The College Magazine
The college magazine is published once a year . It is issued to all students and members of the staff. The Principal will be the Chief Editor. The student editor is elected by all the students of the college. In all matters connected with the magazine the decision of the principal shall be final.
Parent Teacher Association
With a view to develop contacts between the guardians of students and teachers of the college, a Parent Teacher Association has been formed. It is expected that such an association will give a proper forum for the guardians and teachers to have close contacts. The association can also help much in the all-round development of the college such as starting new courses of study, instituting endowments, scholarships, prizes, medals, etc. to deserving students. The basic fund of the PTA will be the annual membership fee collected from the students.
College canteen
A college canteen functions in the campus. Meals in the noon and other refreshments are available in the canteen to students and staff.
Intercom Facility
The college has got intercom facility which enables smooth communication among various departments and office.
Nature Club
This club is functioning in the college. Students from various disciplines with a concern for nature are enrolled as members. The members of the club indulge in activity such as greening the campus, organising seminars, competitions, exhibitions and Nature educational programme. It is associated with the National Environment. Awareness campaign sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India.
Academic Committee
An Academic Committee nominated by the College Council advises the Principal in streamlining and monitoring the academic activities. In the beginning of the academic year, the committee prepares the academic plan for the whole year. Periodic preview meeting with the Department help in monitoring the progress. The committee supervises the conduct of terminal examinations, class PTS meetings and Tutorial meetings.
Career Guidance Cell
The Career Guidance Cell functioning in the college provides opportunities for each student for an all-round development of his/her personality. The main objective of the cell is to prepare students to take up challenging careers. It also aims at developing a holistic personality in students enabling them to succeed while at the same time finding fulfilment in their personal lives. The ultimate aim is to prepare students to be responsible and responsive to the demands of the society.
Grievance Redressal Cell
A senior faculty member nominated by the Council controls the functioning of the cell. Problems like harassment, discrimination are addressed to the cell.Students can approach the cell to seek solutions for individual problems. A counselings centre also functions under the auspices of the cell. Complaints regarding internal assessment are considered by a grievances redressal cell functioning under the Heads of Departments and selected faculty in each department. If the student is not satisfied he/she may approach the college level cell functioning under the Principal and Heads of Departments and council representatives.
Anti Ragging Committee
This committee functions under the strict guidelines of the government and keeps good liaison with the governmental counterparts with a view to obliterate this serious offensive activity from the campus as per “The Kerala Ragging Prohibition Act 1998.”
Women’s Cell
Being a mixed college this cell gives extra care to girl students by lending an ear to their problems. The objective of the cell is to deal with the gender issues inside the campus positively by adopting confidence building measures to help girl students to keep the status at par with the boys.
Ethics and Value Education
The ethics and value education committee is constituted with the objective of preserving the moral values among students and to curb the misuse of mobile phones by students in the campus. Ethics committee keeps vigil on students from indulging in nefarious activities and helps them to safeguard their moral uprightness and positive postures inside and outside campus.
